The Pan-European Choir
Three years ago as a response to the prospect of the UK leaving Europe, Candy, along with her friend and colleague Lindsey Williams, launched the Pan-European choir. We meet in person twice a year for a three to six day residential in different singers’ cities around Europe, and we welcome experienced singers from all over Europe.
It is a truly wonderful opportunity to strengthen the links between old singing friends and new ones from Britain, Germany, Ireland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, and who knows where else; to make new singing friends; and to focus on improving the sound we make together.
Our first meeting was October 2017 in Berlin where we sang songs ranging from Sibelius to Brecht to Cole Porter and had a marvellous, uplifting weekend. Since then we have met at the Song House in Donegal, Ireland, in the beautiful medieval town of Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany, in Gloucestershire UK, and returned to some of the places above.
Since the pandemic has prevented us meeting in person, we now meet monthly on Zoom- we sing through old repertoire, learn new songs, listen to each other singing, and play some wonderful games, including ‘Desert Island Discs’. This is a beautiful and friendly community of singers, who want to keep singing together, despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic.
We welcome new members, who are experienced singers, and who like the idea of making friends across borders. Contact Candy for more info.
