Who are we?
Welcome to Sounding It Out, the ultimate community in song. We’re the friendliest choir imaginable and we meet in Trowbridge. We’re a diverse and sociable bunch and we attract members from Bath, Bristol, Bradford on Avon, Warminster and Westbury – as well as Trowbridge of course!
Sounding It Out is a community performance choir. We are looking for singers who love performing as well as sharing their love of singing with others; we learn the music mostly by ear and the words by heart. However, we’re not a ‘drop-in and sing’ kind of choir; we expect our members to be committed, to attend rehearsals, to enjoy performing and to be willing to spend time at home learning their words and music. This effort is rewarded by being part of an amazing community and at the same time having lots of fun, including weekends away and a variety of other social events.
We sing an eclectic range of songs in a wide variety of places – from The Roundhouse in London, Bath Abbey, Wells Cathedral and the American Museum in Bath, to festivals, pubs, prisons and Christmas markets. You can even find us busking on the street.
Our aim is to spread our love of singing to support peace and environmental initiatives, and to build bridges with other choirs in the UK and Europe. Every year we take part in a choir cultural exchange. We travelled to Bulgaria in 2012, and in 2013 we hosted a choir from the Czech Republic. In Autumn 2014 we shall be making a return trip and visiting the same choir on their home turf.

Sounding It Out summed up by a choir member
“I had been looking for a choir for years but I couldn’t find the right one. I knew what I wanted - a choir which was a real community, which performed to a high standard and which had a great social side. As soon as I came along to Sounding It Out, I knew I had found what I was looking for. There are occasions - particularly in the winter - when I don’t feel like going out to rehearsals, but I always do because I know I’ll come home on a high.”
Sounding It Out is now directed by Caroline Radcliffe. Please contact her if you are interested in joining the choir. Email: email@example.com
