‘Vox Anima – the Creative Voice Residential’ singing long weekend at The Song House, Co. Donegal with Candy Verney and Rod Paton

Join us for a long weekend in the magical atmosphere of The Song House, Co. Donegal, Ireland. The Vox Anima concept brings together vocal improvisation, interactive vocal games, chants, joiks and part singing in a non-judgmental, creative, inclusive and open space.
The weekend will provide you with the opportunity to explore your voice, engage in deep listening, improvise, interact, sing in parts, yodel, yoik, yap and yatter!
Be inspired by the beauty of landscape…
Vox Anima means also a meditative way of song, which will be enhanced through a ‘vision quest’ during the weekend.
On the final night of the course there will be a mini songfest – sharing, performing and celebrating the well-being and sense of community which singing uniquely brings.

Rod Paton, D.Phil is an experienced and versatile workshop leader whose expertise covers many aspects of song from traditional and classical roots through to blues, jazz, Eastern European, Scandinavian and Mongolian influences. Born in Wales he has worked as a horn player, composer, writer, music therapist and academic (recently retired) and now lives partly in Brecon and partly in Brno, capital of Moravia.
Candy Verney has been building singing communities in different ways all her working life. She created and developed 6 community choirs in and around Bath for 20 years. She runs Community Choir Leader Trainings, seeding singing groups throughout UK and Germany. She initiated and directed The Trowbridge Song project, celebrating diversity through sharing traditional music, in a rural town in Wiltshire. She is now director of The Song House, a retreat centre in Donegal, NW Ireland, where she also runs singing holidays and trainings. She has written 3 song books: The Singing Day and The Singing Year for young children, and Songs for Life, with Lindsey Williams, a book of songs for choirs.
